Recess Cans

Recess Cans, also known as can lights or pot lights, are a downlighting fixture that installs into an opening in the ceiling. There are three parts to a recessed lighting fixture: housing, trim and frame. The trim is the visible portion of the light. It is the insert that is seen when looking up into the fixture, and also includes the thin lining around the edge of the light. The housing is the fixture itself that is installed inside the ceiling and contains the lamp holder. The frame is a mounting placed between joists to secure the light in the ceiling. This style of lighting has a number of different applications in both residential and commercial settings, and can be used for ambient, task and accent lighting. Because it’s sleek and easy to conceal, recessed lighting is an ideal choice for areas with limited space for hanging fixtures. It’s also a popular choice for closets, kitchens, living rooms, and—most recently—outdoor lighting.
